GABA was approved as food in Japan in 2001 and in Taiwan in 2005. GABA was approved as new food material in the People's Republic of China in 2009. GABA has also been used as a nutritional supplement in the United States and Canada.

Low degree alcohol beverages with GABA were firstly developed in Japan. They are suitable for women and men of different age to drink. It is believed that new GABA alcohol beverages will be very prospective in food market in China.

Baked foods include breads, cookies, pastries, etc. GABA approved as a new resource food will promote healthy bakery products in the baked foods market.

(6)  Confectionery, cocoa products, chocolate and chocolate products

Confectionery is the favorite food for children. Cocoa products, chocolate and chocolate products are the favorite snack food for the young, especially young couples. There will be a broad market prospect for these kinds of GABA products.
